Southern Californian musician Joseph Harris began playing trumpet at the age of 13 after studying piano from age 6. He attended California State University, Fullerton on full scholarship for music and academics where he studied with Dr. Mark Garrabrandt. In addition, he has also studied with studio legends, Charile Davis and Wayne Bergeron, and jazz great, Ron Stout.
During his college years, Joseph distinguished himself in the local music scene. In 2001, he was selected for the elite Disneyland All-American College Band in the lead trumpet spot. An all-around musician, he has performed with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and also won Outstanding Performer at the prestigious Reno Jazz Festival. In 2005, he performed with the new Los Angeles Neophonic Orchestra in a tribute to Stan Kenton.
In 2008, Joseph toured across the United States, Canada, and Japan with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra and performed as a featured soloist with the group as well as one of the members of the band’s vocal ensemble, the Moonlight Serenaders. He has performed with artists such as the Black-Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Tony Bennett, the Temptations, the Four Tops and Keith Sweat. He is currently a featured soloist for the Disneyland stage show, Mickey and the Magical Map.
With a love and gift for education as well, Joseph often works as a clinician for high school and college ensembles in Southern California and across the United States. In addition to his trumpet responsibilities, he is the tenor and bass soloist for Leisure World Community Church in Seal Beach. Joseph is a Sonare Performing Artist and performs on the Sonare Bb trumpet and Blessing Flugelhorn.
